Alter's Family Album

These snapshots were all taken on a pleasant summer afternoon in the backyard of Esselin's 23rd street house. By then he had been living alone for a good while,
but maintaining good spirits. Behind him can be seen the leaves of an apple tree which when it bore fruit in the fall had the unfortunate ability to attract the visits of all the boys
of the neighborhood. It bothered him a bit to have the youngsters leaping around his yard, but he managed to be stoical about the stressful few weeks of the fall.
